An Ordinance to provide for the supervision of aliens engaged in missionary or educational work in the Colony of Hongkong and to regulate and to restrict the admission into the Colony of aliens

desiring to engage in such work.

Short title.

Prohibition against aliens engaging in missionary or education- -al work in the Colony without a permit.

Regulations.

Be it enacted by the Governor of Hongkong, with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council thereof,

as follows:-

1. This Ordinance may be cited as the Alien Missionary Ordinance, 1922.

2.-(1) No alien shall carry on, or take any part in carrying on, any missionary or educational work within the Colony unless he possesses a permit from the Colonial Secretary enabling him to do 80.

(2) The grant or refusal, and the cancellation, of any such permit shall be in the absolute discretion of the Colonial Secretary.

(3) Any such permit may contain such conditions as the Colonial Secretary may think fit.

3. The Governor in Council may make regulations for

any of the following purposes:-

(a) for regulating and restricting the admission into the Colony of aliens desiring to engage in missionary or educational work therein; (b) for regulating and restricting the carrying on of missionary or educational work in the Colony by aliens;

(c) for the inspection and supervision of

missionary and educational work carried on

in the Colony by aliene;

(d) for excluding any specified class of aliens
